The Apple Heart Study, conducted by Stanford University and Apple, showed that wearable technology, in this case, the Apple Watch, can detect atrial fibrillation. The data was just published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The Apple Watch and Apple Heart Study were designed for detecting afib, not atrial flutter or other arrhythmias, though it did flag some other arrhythmias in a few people – that data was presented at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions last week.
