Should you make changes to your Medicare plans? Will your current plan cover your medications next year? It’s worth checking your plans for 2027 and making any needed changes before Medicare Open Enrollment closes on December 7.
There are a number of changes that we know about for 2027, but there may be more that surface as Medicare Open Enrollment rolls out. We’ll update you as we hear about them. Please let us know of things you discover that we might not know about yet.
We hear about formulary changes every year, especially among anticoagulants (blood thinners) and antiarrhythmic drugs. If your plan drops your medications, it could be costly to you, so you may wish to consider a new plan. In some cases, your brand-name medications may have generic versions, so be sure to check both names when comparing plans.
Don’t wait until the December 7 deadline. Review your medications, compare your coverage options, and make sure your plan will meet your needs in 2027.

Check Your 2027 Medicare Plans—You Have Until December 7 to Change
If you have or are considering a Medicare Advantage plan for 2027, be sure to check that your doctors, specialists, and hospitals will still be in your plan’s network next year. Provider networks can change, so checking before you enroll could help you avoid unexpected costs or disruptions in care. We’re also hearing about Medicare Advantage plans being discontinued or limiting enrollment, so it’s important to confirm that your current plan will still be available in 2027.
Medicare Open Enrollment ends December 7, which will be here before we know it.
