For National Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month, I’m excited to moderate two free afib webinars being hosted by Medtronic.
- The September 26 webinar features Dr. Devi Nair, Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology & Research, St. Bernards Medical Center, White River Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.
- The September 30 webinar features Dr. Nicholas Skipitaris, Western Regional Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Northwell Health in New York, NY.
In the webinar, they will share their approaches to detecting, treating, and providing ongoing heart monitoring for their Afib patients. Then you’ll have an opportunity to participate in an open Q&A session that I will moderate.
I hope you can join us for one of these webinars.

Help! I am registered and unable to get on the webinar.
Sandra,
Here is what time the webinar starts: 5:00 p.m. PT | 6:00 p.m. MT | 7:00 p.m. CT | 8:00 p.m. ET
Sooo I was unable to access the 7:00 session; and unable to access the 8 session. No one available to help; no phone number to call. Enough frustration to put my AFIB in full gear!! So disappointed.
Sandra, I am so sorry you were unable to access the webinar. Please e-mail [email protected] and we can try to help you to make sure you don’t miss the next one and troubleshoot what happened last night.
Wow that was strange. I just wrote an extremely long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear.
Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyhow, just wanted to
say fantastic blog!
Thank you!
I was diagnosed with AFib in 2021. I had an amulet installed in 2022 and on July 9th had a cardiac ablation. I feel blessed with a miracle and so very, very grateful for my doctors taking such good care of me.
I have no idea what I am doing!!! I am scheduled for cardiac ablation on January 12, 2026 in edmonton , alberta. I have never met the doctor and honestly have no idea why this is being done other than being told i need it. I have no symptoms whatsoever, but the loop recorder installed 2-1/2 years ago says my heart will jump to 150 with no reason. I can be sleeping or sitting at a table. It makes no difference. I’m not sure if I have atrial fibrillation or tachycardia as I’ve heard both terms used when a nurse checks on me. My loop recorder is no longer functioning and they do not replace it. My group information seminar on ablations is January 26 2026…not much help for info prior to surgery. Is this really necessary when I have no symptoms??
Lynda,
We encourage you to watch some of the recordings.
You will need to first sign up for the library on the videos page (https://www.stopafib.org/afib-resources/videos/).
Once into the library, go here:
Dr. Prystowsky’s series on What Afib Patients Need to Know: https://stopafib.knowledgelink.tv/course/atrial-fibrillation-what-patients-need-to-know
Then, https://stopafib.knowledgelink.tv/course/2024-afib-patient-conference and peruse the 2024 conference sessions. Day 2 on What Patients Should Know About the New Afib Guidelines may be a good place to start (these are the US guidelines, which are very similar for Canada). Then, Day 2, Catheter Ablation may be a good next session to watch.
