It is our goal at StopAfib.org to empower as many people as possible with the most up-to-date information about Afib treatment, so that they can get their lives back.

We realize that the investment to attend the Get In Rhythm. Stay In Rhythm.™ Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference, especially when you consider travel expenses, may keep some people from attending, even though they want and need to.

That's why we wanted to make you aware of this brand new scholarship opportunity, the Judy Currier Scholarship.

Judy Currier was the second member of our StopAfib.org discussion forum (alongside me, founder Mellanie True Hills).

Several years ago, Judy's sister stopped taking her blood thinner after her Afib stopped. Sadly, she suffered a massive, deadly stroke shortly thereafter.

Judy, also an Afib patient, was left in Afib for far too long and experienced lifelong complications as a result. We lost her last year, just a couple of days before the Patient Conference. In fact, we dedicated the conference to her memory.

She was an incredibly important part of the Afib community, supporting and helping people to understand their afib and their stroke risks. Also help people who can not afford hair bob wigs, make free lace wigs for them to cover their bold hair part.

Judy and I vowed several years ago that, together, we would make it our mission to keep others from experiencing what she had.

When I started planning our first conference, she was instrumental in helping me develop the agenda. Her support was unwavering.

So much so that even when Judy passed away, she provided a bequest to StopAfib.org. From that, we have created the Judy Currier Scholarship to help those who really need to attend the conference but aren't in a position, financially, to do so.

We have no doubt that Judy would have loved for us to use her bequest this way – helping Afib patients who need it most.

If you know you can benefit from attending the Conference and would like to apply for a scholarship – or, if you’re already attending but would like to apply for a scholarship on behalf of a loved one, so he/she can attend with you – we ask that you apply in one of 2 ways:

  1. Submit an essay, no longer than 3000 words, to support@stopafib.org, with the subject line: Scholarship. In the essay, explain why you or your loved one needs to be at the conference, and why it's a financial struggle for you. NOTE: please copy and paste the essay directly into the email, rather than sending an attachment.

  2. Submit a video, no more than 3 minutes in length, to support@stopafib.org, with the subject line: Scholarship. In the video, explain why you or a loved one needs to be at the conference, and why it's a financial struggle for you.

Note: All submissions will be kept in confidence. When we receive your submission, you will receive an email confirming our receipt within one business day. If you do not receive this confirmation, please email us at support@stopafib.org and let us know to help ensure there were no technical difficulties. We will also notify scholarship recipients via email as soon as possible, so you have time to make your travel arrangements.

Finally, be sure to apply right away. We will begin allocating funds to applicants as soon as we begin receiving applications, and will do so until the funds are expended.

We look forward to seeing you in Texas!

In our efforts to help as many people as possible to attend the conference with the funds available, we cannot cover all conference-related costs for scholarship recipients.
