Senator John Warner treated for atrial fibrillation

Doctors at Inova Fairfax Hospital treated Senator John Warner, 80, with an electrical cardioversion on Tuesday followed by a non-surgical catheter ablation on Wednesday. Warner left the hospital on Friday.

In a telephone interview, Warner said that he'd had "mild occurrences of atrial fibrillation over the years," but that his physicians had told him that quite a few people in Congress have them. Warner has announced his intention to retire, but said that atrial fibrillation did not influence his decision.
