A graduate of Boston College and Georgetown University School of Medicine, he completed his general surgical training at the University of Connecticut and his cardiothoracic training at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he also served as a research fellow in the field of transplant immunology.

He spent an additional year of advanced training in complex valve and atrial fibrillation surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. He returned to Boston in 2002 as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tufts University and Senior Cardiac Surgeon at The Lahey Clinic.
