Specialized Procedures and Results
Electrophysiology (EP) Services
Our electrophysiology physicians are specially trained to evaluate and treat heart electrical disorders, such as arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats. Each year we do more than 200 implants to help patients maintain a regular heart beat and over 500 sophisticated EP heart studies. Services include electrical cardioversion and catheter ablation.
Cardiothoracic Surgery
The Institute is ranked in the top third of cardiac surgery programs in the nation based on volume. Scott H. Bronleewe, M.D., performs the surgical Maze procedure during coronary artery or valve surgery, adding minimal time and risk, and the minimally-invasive approach (Mini-Maze) using radiofrequency energy with the AtriCure system. We are one of a few centers in Florida treating atrial fibrillation surgically using a minimally invasive approach (Mini-Maze) that doesn't require the heart lung machine. Bronleewe has been chosen by the AtriCure Company to be an instructor, teaching other physicians how to perform the operation.
