  • Summary: Introducing ablation expert Dr. Jonathan Piccini
  • Reading time: 2–3 minutes

The 2020 Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® Virtual Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference is just a few short weeks away, October 30–November 1. (Before we start sharing our Saturday  expert presenters with you, who will cover procedures like catheter ablation and surgical ablation before closing the day with a panel on how to choose the right procedure for you, you can register here to attend. )

If you’ve ever considered getting an ablation, then we’d love for you to join us this year for our presentations on Saturday, so you can hear from top researchers such as Jonathan P. Piccini, MD, FHRS, Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology section at Duke University Heart Center. This is the first time Dr. Piccini has been able to join us for the patient conference, and he’ll be sharing his deep expertise in afib procedures. He focuses on caring for afib patients, with particular emphasis on catheter ablation and left atrial appendage occlusion.

Dr. Piccini has served as the principal investigator and/or study chair for clinical trials and registries, including as the principal investigator for the American Heart Association-Get with the Guidelines Program Analytic Center. He’s an associate editor for the American Heart Journal and serves on the editorial board of several other journals. He has more than 400 publications in the field of heart rhythm medicine.

As a true innovator, Dr. Piccini is on the front lines of afib research and treatment, and we’re excited to welcome him as a faculty member at this year’s patient conference.

On Saturday morning, October 31, Dr. Piccini will discuss catheter ablation procedures and tools, including the rationale for ablation in treating afib, how doctors decide who is a good candidate, what patients need to know about ablation from the guidelines and consensus documents, and what outcomes those who receive an ablation can expect.

If you’ve considered getting an ablation, we believe attending the conference this year just to hear about ablations from Dr. Piccini and other experts will be well worth your time and money (especially when you consider the investment for conference registration is less than you’d typically pay for a visit with a specialist like Dr. Piccini).
