International afib icon joins us at our 2020 virtual conference

October 5, 2020

  • Summary: Our 2020 Keynote: Frank Marchlinski, MD, a True Innovator
  • Reading time: 2–3 minutes

One silver lining of making this year’s Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference virtual is that we’ve been able to secure some international afib icons whom we’ve wanted to share with patients but have not been able to bring to Dallas.

This year, when you join us October 30–November 1 for three days of presentations from the world’s experts in afib—from the comfort and safety of your home—you’ll hear from the absolute best of the best in afib research and treatment.

(You can read all the details and register for the conference here.)

One of the international faculty members who has agreed to present this year is John Camm, MD, FHRS, British Heart Foundation Professor of Clinical Cardiology (Emeritus) at St. George’s University of London in the United Kingdom. We’ve wanted to bring Professor Camm, and Professor Gregory Y.H. Lip (whom you will meet soon), to you for years. We just cannot express how excited and honored we are to have them both with us this year.

Professor Camm has been involved in the production of numerous afib guidelines, including chairing the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines for the management of atrial fibrillation. He was president of the ESC’s European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), is Editor-in-Chief of the European Heart Journal—Case Reports and Clinical Cardiology, an editorial board member of a further 15 journals, and Editor of the European Heart Journal, the European Society of Cardiology Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine, and ESC CardioMed

He is a well-respected afib expert: he has written or edited more than 40 books and authored or co-authored more than 1,450 peer-reviewed papers, more than 500 book chapters, and in excess of 2,500 accepted abstracts. He has also delivered more than 1,000 international lectures.

As the world’s leading expert on afib medications, he will talk about the specific rate and rhythm control medications for afib and how your doctor decides what to prescribe for you. He’ll also discuss which medications may not work for specific patient groups (such as those with heart disease, heart failure, or asthma) and the differences in treating different types of afib.

Having the chance as a patient to hear directly from a doctor of the stature of Professor Camm is rare (our doctors are thrilled to get to hear him), and we sincerely hope you’ll take us up on the opportunity to hear from him and the other world-renowned innovators and experts in afib who are presenting at this year’s conference.

Again, this year’s conference is virtual, and will take place in less than a month, October 30–November 1.
