The Heartline Study is a virtual heart health wellness study for people 65+

Can this study reduce the risk of strokes from atrial fibrillation?

UPDATED December 28, 2020

  • Summary: Join the Heartline Study, a nationwide, virtual heart health study for people 65+ with an iPhone and Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage.
  • Reading time:  2 minutes

The Heartline Study is a heart-health wellness program and study being conducted by Johnson & Johnson in collaboration with Apple. The study will determine if a mobile app combined with the Apple watch (Series 4 or later) can identify heartbeat irregularities such as atrial fibrillation.

In addition, the study includes a heart-health engagement program paired with medication adherence tools for those with afib who are on blood thinners (oral anticoagulants). The study aims to determine if these interventions can help reduce the risk of afib-related strokes.

Thus, there is a role in the study for everyone 65+ in the US, both those with afib and those without it.

Please join the study and invite your family and friends who don’t have afib to join as well. Participants may even earn monetary rewards.

To participate, you must meet these qualifications:

  • Age 65 or more
  • US resident
  • iPhone 6s or later, with iOS 12.2 or later
  • Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage (NEW)
