CEO of American Foundation for Women's Health and StopAfib.org Named Finalist for 2007 Blazing Star Award

October 25, 2007 6:20 AM CT

Dallas, TX, October 25, 2007 — The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas has announced that Mellanie True Hills, CEO, American Foundation for Women's Health and StopAfib.org, has been named a finalist for the 2007 Blazing Star Award.

Mellanie True Hills is an internationally-recognized expert on heart disease among women, atrial fibrillation, preventive medicine, stress and life balance, workplace wellness and productivity, and women's business success.

As a heart disease survivor, she saves lives through sharing her near-death experiences with heart disease and stroke and coaching individuals and organizations in creating health and productivity. She is the author of the award-winning book, A Woman’s Guide to Saving Her Own Life: The HEART Program for Health and Longevity.

The American Foundation for Women's Health recently launched www.StopAfib.org to advocate for patients with atrial fibrillation, a life-threatening irregular heartbeat affecting more than five million Americans today. After being cured of atrial fibrillation, Hills understood the physical, emotional, and financial toll that afib takes and couldn't just watch others suffer. Today, the StopAfib.org atrial fibrillation patient resource helps those living with this daunting condition.

Mellanie True Hills has been featured by media around the globe, including a recent feature article in Better Homes & Gardens' Heart-Healthy Living magazine.

The Blazing Star award will be given at a luncheon to celebrate the achievements of remarkable Texas women. Presented by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas and the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women, the luncheon will be held November 1, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Austin, TX. More information about the awards luncheon is available at www.womenschambertexas.com.
