The Silver Book: Thrombosis
An Educational Lunch Briefing
March 23, 2011

Each year close to 1.8 million Americans are diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, have a stroke, or experience a venous thrombembolism event. These can all be caused by or be the result of thrombosis—the formation of a blood clot in a blood vessel.

Join the Alliance for Aging Research (www.agingresearch.org), in partnership with the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (www.pcna.net) and StopAfib.org (www.stopafib.org), as they discuss the latest volume of the Alliance’s Silver Book, which shines the spotlight on the human and economic burden of these and other types of thrombosis, and explores the value of innovation in reducing these burdens.

The Alliance will also announce a related effort—the Afib Optimal Treatment Task Force, which has formed to ensure that appropriate guidelines for the treatment of afib are released and translated into practice.
